Palm Aire Country Club boasts a rich history dating back to 1959 when The Palms Golf Course was founded by George Palmer and Harold Broiler. The club expanded with a 50-room lodge in 1962, and that same year, golf legend Sam Snead set a course record with a score of 65. Over the years, Palm Aire has proudly hosted prestigious events such as the Dixie Amateur, the Florida Open, and the South Florida Classic, a former Tour event.
In 1965, Alfred Orleans and his son Marvin purchased the course and lodge, bringing the Florida Open to Palm Aire for the first time. The club continued to grow with the addition of a grand hotel and spa in 1971, followed by the construction of the Oaks course in 1971 and the Cypress course in 1972. The club became a hotspot for celebrities, with stars like Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor, and Jerry Lewis frequenting the hotel and golf courses. The New York Yankees stayed at the club during spring training, and tennis legend Billie Jean King served as the resident tennis pro.
The Oaks and Cypress courses at Palm Aire Country Club were masterfully designed by the renowned duo of Tom and George Fazio, while the Palms course was crafted by William Mitchell.
Each of the three courses offers a unique and enjoyable challenge for golfers of all skill levels:
